Pat Fries (pronounced Freeze),
Runs Arrowhead Films in South/Central Austin right behind the Walgreens on South Lamar. He just got back from 7 weeks in Asia filming for the Discovery Channel. Pat has traveled all over the world to made short films for the UN about developing nations and how they use the aid given to them to buy food and clean drinking water.
Pat and his crew also restored a Huey Helicopter and flew it around the country to talk to Vietnam Veterens. That Helicopter is now on display at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C
Pat reads the newspaper every morning. When he read the newspaper and saw the story of Donald Matocha he knew right away that his story would be a movie that would touch so many people in a very strong emotional way. (See a clip from the movie and pictures HERE) Along with making movies, Pat works with many freelance more makers and photographers to makes documentaries.
I will be writing my feature story about Pat's story of how he became a film maker along with the stories he had to tell about his travels over seas, why he makes movies, and what his favorite and most memorable part of movie making has been. He had some great stories to tell me about why he made some of the movies he made and the strenuous film business he runs along with the "make it big or not at all" motto of the film business itself.
See a link to the Arrowhead Film website along with clips of the documentaries and movies they have made.
