Texas vs. Nebraska

Nebraska vs. Texas
Lincoln Nebraska

As Texas fans remember, Texas beat Nebraska in the 2009 Big 12 Championship game last year with a last second field goal by senior place-kicker Hunter Lawrence. Nebraska insisted they weren't out for revenge, but Texas fans knew the truth. Texas would face its highest profile opponent this year in the Nebraska Cornhuskers. More over, they had to try and beat them in Lincoln, Nebraska, in their house.
Texas opened the scoring with a 27 yard field goal by Justin Tucker. On the next drive, Eddie Jones forced a fumble from NU running back Roy Helu and it was recovered at the 21 by Keenan Robinson. On 2nd and goal to go, Garrett Gilbert rushed 3 yards into the end zone. After the PAT, the score was 10-0 Texas. After back to back punts, Nebraska scored a field goal just after the start of the 2nd quarter making it 10-3. Texas got the ball back after a Nebraska punt and scored off a Garrett Gilbert 1 yard rushing TD, his second of the game.
The Horns entered the locker room at halftime ahead, 17-3.
On their second drive of the 3rd quarter, Texas kicked a 28 yard FG to make it 20-3. Nebraska fans (and perhaps some UT fans) where shocked. Nebraska scored another field goal before the end of the 3rd quarter making it 20-6 on the way to the fourth.
With 3:24 left, Texas lined up for a field goal but pooch-punted it away. Eric Hagg returned the punt 95 yards for a touchdown, making it 20-13. With this much time left, the Horns lead was in jeopardy. Texas got the ball back and started to run out the clock. Cody Johnson rushed the to the left side and made a tremendous play to stay in bounds and keep the clock running. The Horns ended the game winning 20-13 in Lincoln.
The Horns are undefeated in Lincoln under head coach Mack Brown. They beat the Cornhuskers one final time before they move to the Big 10 next year.
Player of the Game: Garrett Gilbert
Gilbert was only 4-16 for 62 yards in the game but he rushed for 71 yards and 2 touchdowns. He channeled his inner Colt McCoy and led the Horns to a victory. Gilbert is going through a rapid maturation in his time at Texas, and is beginning to play the role he needs to.
